Hotel industry giant Hyatt Hotels have unveiled plans to open a new Grand Hyatt Beach Resort in Cancun. One of the hottest destinations in the world since it was amongst the first to ease their entry restrictions at the height of the pandemic,

Mexico has welcomed several major hotel brands to its shores in the past few months, with news of Hyatt’s new development in Cancun the latest of several exciting projects coming to Mexico over the next few years.

With many different hotels planned in the country and the acquisition of a major resort brand, Hyatt’s faith in Mexico suggests the destination’s popularity is set to soar even higher – and judging from what we know so far, this latest development should prove to be a hit. Here’s a look at everything we know about the Grand Hyatt Beach Resort, including where it will be, what guests can expect from the resort and when it is scheduled to be open for travelers.

The latest Hyatt development in Mexico, the Grand Hyatt Beach Resort, was announced by the hotel giants just days ago.

The exciting new-build resort is set to become the company’s 19th resort in Cancun alone – taking into account the all-inclusive luxury resorts operating under AMResorts which was recently purchased by Hyatt – giving travelers a wealth of options when it comes to visiting the tourist hotspot.

The resort is the result of a collaboration between the Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Diestra Realty, S.A. de C.V, and will boast 500 rooms, making it a significant development in the city. It is scheduled to open in the summer of 2024, and will join the likes of Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, Grand Hyatt Bogotá, Grand Hyatt Nashville, Grand Hyatt at SFO and Grand Hyatt Vail – each of which has opened within the past five years – when it does so.

Amongst the planned 500 guestrooms that will be at the resort, 28 of them will feature their own plunge pool, allowing travelers to enjoy a more private, premium experience without having to leave their rooms. The resort will also feature a further 46 luxury suites, where guests can sample some of Hyatt’s famous hospitality, along with one Presidential Suite that will be an oasis of luxury, rivalling the best suites Cancun has to offer.

In addition to top quality rooms, the amenities the resort will have to offer will help it stand out from the fierce competition in Cancun. In terms of dining and drinking, the resort will feature 11 dining concepts, each manned by world class chefs, along with six bars at the resort, including a lobby bar, a pool bar and a beach shack, so travelers can unwind by the sea with a drink in hand.

The Grand Hyatt Beach Resort Cancun is also set to make a splash when it comes to leisure activities. The resort will have an indoor and outdoor destination spa area and fitness center to connect guests with their physical and mental wellbeing, in addition to three swimming pools, 16,000 square feet of “dynamic, state-of-the-art gathering spaces”, a kids club, an activity center and retail stores to fulfil a traveler’s retail therapy needs.

The new resort will be located in Puerto Cancun, located between downtown Cancún and the Cancún Hotel Zone. Puerto Cancun is home to a full-service marina, golf course, protected natural reserve and a lifestyle shopping mall that contains fine dining, art galleries and children’s entertainment activities, which means guests will have plenty to do in the local area.
