Nicaragua leaves the OAS
Nicaragua’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Denis Moncada, announced today the definitive exit of the Central American nation from the Organization of American States (OAS), after the continuous signs of interference of the regional forum.
From the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry in this capital, the diplomat communicated that, with instructions from President Daniel Ortega, they sent to the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, their position denouncing the interference in internal affairs and the decision to leave the organization.
“Nicaragua defends the independence, sovereignty and self-determination of the people, in respect for its internal legal order and international laws”, said Moncada.
“In the face of the violating actions of the OAS and the United States, we express our resignation from that organization, instrumentalized under the interests of the northern country”, he added.
