Government of Mexico promises to recover jobs lost by Covid-19
The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, assured today that his government will recover by the end of March next year the nearly one million formal jobs lost due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a tour of the state of Oaxaca to monitor progress of the national earthquake reconstruction program, the president reported that in August they recovered 120 thousand jobs, in September another 120 thousand and so far in October they have already added one hundred thousand.
We lost about a million, but if we continue like this, by the end of March 2021 we will be back with the 20 million jobs we had before the pandemic, he said.
He highlighted that the largest number of jobs for workers registered with the Social Security Institute, where 5,550 jobs were lost in April alone. (PL)
