The Cuban Institute of Oncology and Radiobiology (INOR) is considered as one of its kind in the global centers referring to the practice of minimally invasive neurosurgery of different types of tumors.

Dr. Joel Caballero García, neurosurgeon, fellowship in endoscopic endonasal surgery, professor and researcher, who holds the Ramírez Corría Award at the International Congress of Neurosurgery, and an aspiring Doctor of Medical Sciences, explained to this media that in INOR there is the specialty of Neurosurgery inserted in the Head and Neck Service, where he attends several lines of treatments, including brain tumors, cranial-based tumor surgeries, and spinal tumor surgery, whether benign or malignant tumors.

One of the strengths that place INOR as an international reference center is that disease management is performed by an interdisciplinary group, where all possible therapeutic options are offered, including radiosurgery, with high-tech linear accelerators, with newer endoscopic procedures and also the possibility of performing traditional surgery procedures, which are sometimes necessary in patients, offering a more personalized and more comprehensive medicine.

Minimally invasive surgery in neurosurgery humanizes patient care, reduces hospital stay, with rapid recovery and minimal cosmetic, functional and psychological sequelae, allowing access to highly complex injuries.

One aspect that distinguishes INOR is that each treatment that is applied is based on the needs of the patient, since the center has all the therapeutic options, providing a more personalized management as the case may be.

Currently the Institute of Oncology and Radiobiology (INOR) is among the first centers in the world to practice cranial-based surgery, boasting level five, the most complex in this type of surgery. It is also a reference center in orbit surgery (360 degrees) for minimal access. In spinal surgery, the center has the only national series of spinal tumors operated by minimal access, with very good results. It is the only hospital that practices radiosurgery, having two different linear accelerators, adapting to the needs of the patient.

On brain metastases, Dr. Joel Caballero explained that INOR has extensive experience, and the patient can access different types of treatments, ranging from surgery to radiosurgery, which is the current treatment applied globally in patients with these conditions.

Together with all the above it should be noted that Cuban doctors are distinguished by their humanism, professionalism and dedication to the work they do, they are world doctors dressed in sensitivity.

The Institute of Oncology and Radiobiology (INOR) of Cuba currently has all the conditions to receive patients from anywhere in the world, who require the most complex medical and professional care.
