Russia is currently Cuba’s third largest tourist-sending market, Jorge Alberto García, first deputy Minister of Tourism of the Caribbean nation stated.

During the first two days of the Moscow International Tourism Fair, Mitt 2025, tour operators, agencies, travel agents, and airlines from this country have demonstrated a strong interest in Cuba as a destination, which is evident in Russia’s current third position as a source nation, the Cuban deputy minister told Prensa Latina.

The official added that another topic discussed with their Russian counterparts was the promotion of the benefits of the leisure industry in Cuba, with the goal of emphasizing its visibility and dissemination through specialized communications companies, as well as in the Russian media.

García also praised the industry’s crucial role in the development and strengthening of the Cuban economy, expressing the commitment of the Ministry of Tourism and its entities to achieving customer satisfaction in order to grow operations, thereby impacting the country’s revenue.

In this regard, Cristina León, the Tourism Counselor at the Cuban Embassy in Russia, outlined another action to maintain the rapid arrival of Russians to Cuba, especially in the eastern part of the country, particularly Santiago de Cuba.

The diplomat added that the so-called Hero City, the cradle of the Revolution, has a rich cultural and social heritage that will further attract clients from Russia who in 2024 extended their presence in Cuba to all seasons of the year.

León noted that MITT 2025 is also a showcase to invite hundreds of participants to attend the next edition of the Cuban International Tourism Fair, scheduled for April 30 to May 3 in Havana.

The 31st Russian International Tourism and Hospitality Show will run until March 20, with the goal of ensuring that the more than 700 companies present offer their best products to the Russian market through unique business programs.
