The Dominican Republic will welcome the Ambience, a cruise ship from the British line Ambassador Cruise Service, for its inaugural visit on January 25, 2025, at the Port of San Souci. According to the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM), the ship, with a capacity of 1,400 passengers, will dock from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Jean Luis Rodríguez, APORDOM’s executive director, highlighted the success of ports in Puerto Plata, La Romana, and Cabo Rojo in attracting cruise ships. Cabo Rojo, in particular, is emerging as a major southern tourist destination with its new cruise port designed to accommodate Oasis-class ships, the largest in the world. Rodríguez emphasized that ongoing projects, including the National Plan for Rehabilitation, Refurbishment, and Construction of Tourist and Fishing Docks, aim to boost tourism, strengthen the economy, and position the Dominican Republic as a regional leader in cruise tourism.
In January 2025, various ports, including Taíno Bay, Amber Cove, Sans Souci, Catalina Island Anchorage, and the West Pier, will receive numerous cruise ships. These visits, scheduled across the week, will bring foreign visitors and stimulate the local economy. The month’s lineup includes prominent vessels such as MSC Seaside, Carnival Mardi Gras, Celebrity Apex, Norwegian Prima, and Independence of the Seas. While the calendar outlines projected arrivals, factors such as weather or route changes may alter the schedule.
