Preferred Hotels & Resorts continues to expand its portfolio in Central America, partnering with one of the most iconic properties in Panama

Panama. Gamboa Rainforest Reserve is now a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest independent luxury hotel brand representing more than 600 unique hotels, resorts, residences, and hotel groups in 80 countries, and joins the Lifestyle Collection. This collection offers exceptional properties that provide memorable stays and authentic, welcoming service, reflecting local culture.

Just 30 minutes from Panama City on 340 acres overlooking the Panama Canal, Gamboa Rainforest Reserve is a majestic hotel in the heart of Panama’s lush rainforest, offering guests a unique experience to connect with nature. With 166 spacious and comfortable rooms, the hotel combines modernity with natural beauty. Visitors can enjoy walking trails, a cable car that offers panoramic views of the forest canopy, and visits to the Sloth Sanctuary. Plus, they can explore Gatun Lake, a hub for adventures, or relax by the pool.

Herman Bern Jr., President of Bern Hotels & Resorts, highlighted that “The addition of Gamboa Rainforest Reserve to Preferred Hotels & Resorts strengthens our commitment to offering authentic experiences and the highest level of hospitality. Now, with the support of this prestigious independent hotel brand, our guests will enjoy unparalleled service in a unique natural environment.”

Preferred Hotels & Resorts offers a strategic advantage to independent hotel owners and operators through the brand’s global scale, supporting the objectives of its member hotels through group, corporate and leisure sales, integrated marketing solutions, revenue management and technology progressive distribution. Through their affiliation with Preferred, independent hotels like Gamboa Rainforest Reserve can increase their competitiveness in the international market without losing their autonomy and local identity.

“What better than entering Panama with a hotel like Gamboa Rainforest Reserve,” said Antonio Vera, regional director of Preferred Hotels & Resorts for Mexico and Central America. “We look for high quality hotels! We think that travelers prefer hotels that have their own personality, that are not so standardized; I think we achieved a good negotiation, and we are going to be working closely with the entire team. Through us we will make Gamboa have visibility and exposure globally and look for that passenger from all over the world so that they come to visit this wonderful place,” said Vera.

The hotel also stands out for its gastronomic offering, with three restaurants and three bars that present the rich flavors of Panama, combining fresh and local ingredients with a fusion of Panamanian and international cuisine. For corporate or social events, Gamboa Rainforest Reserve offers eight versatile meeting rooms, with customized menu options and elegant event spaces.

Hotel guests can now enroll in I Prefer Hotel Rewards, the brand’s points-based loyalty program, which has more than 4.5 million travelers enrolled globally. This free program allows members to earn points redeemable for rewards certificates, Elite status and other special benefits at nearly 600 participating hotels and resorts around the world.
