According to Mexico News Daily, Tourism Minister Miguel Torruco Marques announced the four busiest domestic airlines were Volaris (24.3 million passengers), Viva Aerobus (21.1 million), Aeromexico (12.2 million) and Aeromexico Connect (5.2 million).

The international market also flourished, with the United States and Canada accounting for most of the foreign visitors. Aeromexico and Volaris flew 12.2 million combined passengers internationally, an increase of 23.5 percent compared to pre-pandemic totals in 2019.

As for the leading airlines from the U.S. serving Mexico, American Airlines and United Airlines flew a combined 12.9 million passengers last year, a 41.2 percent increase from 2019. A total of 27.4 million passengers flew from the U.S. to Mexico last year.

Another 4.63 million travelers arrived in Mexico from Europe, a 2.3 percent increase from 2022. In addition, the Central American, South American, and Asia/Pacific regions all recorded higher totals in 2023.

The Mexican Secretary of Tourism (SECTUR) recently revealed expectations that over 42 million international tourists will visit the country this year, generating an estimated $32 billion in tourism revenue.
