Cuba. The beach resort of Varadero hosted the XIII edition of CubaGolf 2023, an event that takes place every year and brings together an important group of golf professionals from different parts of the world.
From October 25 to 28, a total of 57 players from Spain, Vietnam, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany and Cuba met at the Varadero Golf Club, who showed their skills in hard-fought competitions during those days.
In the Best Gross Knight category, the winner was the Cuban Guillermo Herrera and the Best Gross Female Sophie Caron from Canada.
In the Closeness to the Women’s Flag, the winner was Josee Blondin, from Canada, and in the men’s category, David Villafaña, from Cuba. In the Ladies Category, first place went to the Canadian Sophie Caron and in the 1st Men’s Category, Eduard George.
The CubaGolf Tournament is sponsored by the Palmares Extra-Hotel Company and the Cubasol Group, an event that reinforces the potential that Cuba has for the development of this tourism modality.
The closing ceremony of the CubaGolf 2023 tournament was attended by the Minister of Tourism of Cuba, Juan Carlos García Granda, the president of the Cubasol Group, Luis Martínez de Armas and the delegate of the Ministry of Tourism in Matanzas, Narcia Valdés, among other guests.
More about Varadero Golf Club
Varadero Golf Club is the only 18-hole par 72 golf course located on the north coast of the Hicacos Peninsula, in Matanzas. It has all the infrastructure, services and equipment associated with the practice of golf.
Its inauguration was in 1999, and it was designed by the architect Les Furbe, president of the Canadian company Golf Design Service LTD, combining golf architectures: classic design, challenging design or target Golf and links design. The course is located between the hotels Los Cactus, Tuxpan, Bella Costa, Meliá Las Américas, Meliá Varadero, Sol Club Palmeras and Sol Club Sirenas.
In 1999 and 2000 it was the scene of the Grand Final of the European Challenger Tour, where 15 analysts achieved the Order of Merit of the European PGA qualifying tour.
