The Gran Caribe group and the Blue Diamond Resorts hotel chain will jointly manage all hotel and non-hotel facilities in Cayo Largo del Sur, announced Miguel García, communication director of this foreign company in Cuba.
Blue Diamond, which manages brands on the island such as Memories, Royalton and Starfish, announced the news at the 2022 International Tourism Fair in Varadero.
The start date for the management of Blue Diamond, scheduled for the 2022-2023 winter season, will take place gradually and as the facilities are approved to the brand’s standards, said the manager.
“For Blue Diamond, it will be a large-scale project and a unique experience, since we are talking about the almost global management of a tourist destination with all its facilities,” he said, highlighting the chain’s interest to bring this southern place back to life. coast of Cuba and insert it into international markets.
In Cayo Largo del Sur, work will be carried out to expand the airport to establish air connections, as well as to increase services and offers, especially in the Marina Marlin, one of its main attractions.
The tourist center, where some of the most beautiful beaches in the world are located, currently has around 1,348 rooms.
García also reported that the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) is currently carrying out studies to carry out dredging works in hotel areas where it is necessary to favor the injection of sand.
