President of the Central American Parliament (Parlacen), Silvia Garcia Polanco, commended Morocco’s pioneering role as a gateway to Africa.

This stance was expressed by Garcia Polanco, who holds the rotating presidency of Parlacen for the period 2023-2024 representing the Dominican Republic, during her talks with MP Hayat Laaraych on the sidelines of the February session of the Central American Parliament, held on February 22 and 23 in the Guatemalan capital, according to a statement by the House of Representatives.

The president of this regional parliamentary organization also expressed her wish to benefit from Morocco’s experience in managing migration issues in the region, and to strengthen parliamentary coordination with the Kingdom, added the statement.

During her talks with Laaraych in her capacity as representative of the national Section of the House of Representatives to Parlacen, García Polanco also expressed her desire to create a women’s forum between the Central American Parliament and the Moroccan Parliament during her term at the head of this regional organization.

Laaraych pointed out that her participation in this session on behalf of the House of Representatives testifies to the Kingdom of Morocco’s ongoing commitment to South-South cooperation, which is now one of the pillars of national diplomacy, both at governmental and parliamentary levels, in line with the High Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

She also praised the exceptional dynamic that has characterized relations between the two Houses of the Moroccan Parliament and Parlacen in recent years. (https://www.maroc.ma/en/news/president-central-american-parliament-commends-moroccos-pioneering-role-gateway-africa)
