The Point of Contact between the Colombian Government and the National Liberation Army (ELN) concluded here on Friday, after working as a mechanism to facilitate coordination for the implementation of the agreements from the Dialogue Table.
Cuba’s Foreign Ministry explained that the Contact Point was established after the culmination of the Sixth Cycle of the Dialogue Table held from January 22 to February 6, 2024.
The members of the ELN Negotiating Delegation who were still in Cuba left on Friday.
Recently, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez acknowledged the efforts of the delegations to solve the problems faced by the Negotiating Table.
On Monday, the parties agreed to continue with the activities foreseen in the agreements and to assess the efforts and commitments during the seventh cycle, to be held in Venezuela from April 8 to 22.
During the sixth cycle in Havana, the Colombian Government and the ELN announced the extension of the bilateral, national and temporary ceasefire for the next 180 days.
They also announced the Army’s commitment to suspending economic retentions unilaterally and temporarily. (PL)
