Rodolfo Solano Quirós Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Costa Rica, arrived in Belize Tuesday with his delegation for an official two-day visit.
Foreign Minister Solano Quirós began his visit with a courtesy call on Prime Minister. John Briceño. The foreign minister will also meet with Eamon Courtenay, Belize’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the ministers of Health, and Blue Economy. Discussions are expected to be centered on important bilateral and cooperation matters including Belize’s CARICOM chairmanship, SICA and Central American affairs, tourism, environment and climate change, food and animal health safety, vocational technical training, among others.
Solano Quirós is also expected to meet Vincent Palacio, Interim President of the University of Belize and Colin Young, Executive Director of the Caribbean Community Climate Change Center.
Belize and the Republic of Costa Rica celebrated 40 years of cordial and mutual diplomatic relations in 2021. Costa Rica shuttered its embassy in the City of Belmopan in 2021 due to economic constraints and has yet to announce when it will reopen.
