Cuba’s Health Ministry (MINSAP) on Saturday reported 6,850 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest figure since July 20, 2021.
MINSAP National Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran, explained during his daily press conference that of the active cases (41,523), 41,077 are clinically stable.
He added that 446 patients are in intensive care units, including 300 who are in a serious condition and 146 who are critical.
From March 2020 to date, 634,161 people have been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in Cuba.
Concerning pediatric cases, he commented, 1,544 were detected in the last 24 hours, including 120 children under one year of age, and 56 under six months.
In the last 15 days, 26,311 children got infected at a rate of 1,754 per day, Dr. Duran emphasized.
The expert reported that 12,375 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals, and now the number of recovered people is 587,514.
Dr. Duran regretted the deaths of 83 people in the last 24 hours, so the total death toll is 5,667 lives since the outbreak of the pandemic in Cuba.
