The Central American Integration System (SICA) member nations have approved the Regional Plan for Implementation of the New Urban Agenda (PRINAU) to create inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable human settlements.
At the 43rd Ordinary Meeting of the Central American Council for Housing and Human Settlements (CCVAH), Costa Rican Housing and Human Settlement Minister and SICA´s Pro Tempore President Irene Campos claimed that in the face of climate and pandemic events, the PRINAU makes more sense in the regional context.
PRINAU, Irene said, is the key tool to contribute to more inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities and human settlements.
According to UN-Habitat Regional Director Elkin Velázquez, PRINAU-SICA project will play a key role in reconstruction process, since housing and sustainable urban development can play a catalytic role in the effective recovery throughout Central America and the Dominican Republic.
The Cities Alliance Regional Adviser for Latin America and the Caribbean Ana Claudia Rossbach stated that this mechanism is a great advance for the region. It´s a process to find out consensus that reaffirms the bases for the implementation of a governance model and construction collaborative.
