Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez affirmed before the plenary session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) that his nation will not surrender and persist in denouncing the infamy and injustice represented by the blockade imposed by the United States more than six decades ago.
Rodriguez stated, “We will exercise with determination the right to decide our destiny. We will continue our efforts to overcome our current difficulties and ensure the country’s economic sustainability, even with the continuation and the further strengthening of the US blockade.”
The foreign minister said, “I speak on behalf of a people who right now face, with scarce resources, practically only with will, unity, and solidarity, a monstrous hurricane.”
The minister began his address on this second and final day of debate on the resolution calling for an end to the US blockade by offering condolences to the countries affected by the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa in the Caribbean region.
