The measures put into force by the US Government seek to separate, artificially, the private sector from the public sector when they are both part of Cuba’s economic system and the Cuban society as a whole, the Cuban Foreign Ministry (MINREX) affirmed.

In an official statement, the MINREX points out that the Government of the United States announced a group of provisions on Tuesday to implement its policy, which was announced on May 16, 2022.

According to the text published by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the aim is to support the non-state sector in Cuba.

With this announcement, the US Government intends to address only a segment of our population, the MINREX stressed.

It adds that the coercive measures that most affect the Cuban economy and public services and severely damage the well-being of the entire population are not eliminated or modified.

Once again, the United States’ decision relies on its distorted view of the Cuban reality, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentioned and warned that the United States seeks to give an advantage to the Cuban private sector, which has been legally established and developed under the measures taken by the Cuban Government in popular consultation.

So has occurred with access to the Internet, which has been established and expanded by Cuba, despite the obstacles resulting from the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by that northern nation on Cuba and the restrictions that prevent free access to hundreds of tools and websites.

It also highlights its intention to use this sector for political purposes against the Cuban Revolution, according to its regime change policy.

“The United States is ratifying its will to punish the Cuban state sector, knowing that it provides essential services such as education, health, culture, sports, and others to all Cubans, including the private sector; and that it is the guarantee of social justice and equality among all citizens,” the document states.

For this reason, recent measures have been adopted to persecute Cuba’s international medical cooperation.

Several published documents have revealed that the United States remains determined to deprive us of revenues and destabilize the country with the political purpose of dominating the nation.

The Cuban Government will analyze these measures and, if they do not infringe upon national legislation and are an opening that benefits the Cuban population, even if only a segment, it will not impede their application,” the MINREX statement concluded. (PL)
