The 12th International Congress of Journalists and Tourism Professionals held in the Dominican Republic by the World Tourism Journalism Organization (WTJO) was a complete success, not only because of the quality of its conferences, but also thanks to its program of activities that included tours of the country thanks to the valuable support of the sponsors who joined forces to make the event an unforgettable experience.

For several days, journalists from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and Peru immersed themselves in the culture and tourism of the country, discovering new destinations and connecting with leading brands.

The fam press began with a warm welcome at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Santo Domingo on Sunday evening, June 4, with a cocktail party that brought together international and Dominican journalists.

On the second day, the journalists headed to the city of Santiago de los Caballeros, where they were welcomed by the Santiago Province’s City Hall. Participants had the opportunity to explore the Los Pepines community, where they were welcomed by a son and salsa music group, and enjoyed the Ruta de los Murales, an enriching cultural experience.

They also visited the Eduardo León Jimenes Cultural Center, where they viewed the art on display and learned about the history of the region. The Clúster Santiago Destino Turístico provided valuable information on local tourist attractions.

During the visit to the Botanical Garden of Santiago they appreciated the exuberant nature of the area. To end the day on a high note, they tasted exquisite dishes at Rancho Chito restaurant and enjoyed a quality coffee at Calcalí Coffee Roaster.

The third day, back in the capital, after the Congress at the Indotel Cultural Center, was dedicated to Santo Domingo. Lunch was sponsored by Banreservas, a financial institution that demonstrated its commitment to Dominican tourism. The Casa Gastronómica offered a culinary experience in which journalists and guests enjoyed traditional Dominican flavors.

The Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster was in charge of guiding participants through the fascinating Colonial City, a historical jewel full of colonial charm. The Colonial Gate 4D Cinema experience was a journey back in time through the history of the Dominican Republic.

One of the highlights of the fam press was the day dedicated to Saona Island, sponsored by the Punta Cana-Macao Energy Consortium (CEPM). The Occidental Caribe, a renowned hotel, hosted the participants, who enjoyed the comfort and world-class amenities.

The next destination was Cap Cana, an exclusive tourist enclave on the east coast of the country. The journalists marveled at the beaches and facilities of Eden Roc at Cap Cana. The Mediterraneo restaurant delighted attendees with a culinary experience.

The fam press also offered moments of fun and entertainment, such as a visit to Punta Cana’s famous Coco Bongo nightclub. The journalists enjoyed a show full of music, dancing and contagious energy. The last day was marked by the hospitality of the Lopesan Hotel Group, which offered a luxurious day out.

In addition, participants enjoyed a relaxed and festive atmosphere as a farewell at Parada 77, a renowned bar in Santo Domingo’s Colonial Zone.

The success of the fam press would not have been possible without the support of the entities and brands that participated. Adompretur, AF Comunicación Estratégica, Arajet, Café Santo Domingo, Centro Cuesta Nacional, VI International Congress of Health and Wellness Tourism, Coral Costa Caribe Beach Resort, Gelen Gil Producciones, HK Cosmetics, Industrias San Miguel, Manos Dominicanas, La Aurora, Ministry of Tourism, Ron Barceló, Las Casas del XVI, Billini Hotel, Hodelpa Caribe Colonial, Gran Hotel Europa and Hodelpa Novus Plaza were just some of the sponsors and collaborators that contributed to the success of the event.

The 12th International Congress of Journalists and Tourism Professionals in the Dominican Republic was not only an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences, but also to discover the richness and diversity of a country full of charm and hospitality.

This fam press left an indelible mark on the participants, who took with them priceless memories and a deep appreciation for Dominican tourism. (https://dominicantoday.com/dr/tourism/2023/06/25/foreign-journalists-tour-dominican-republic-during-world-congress/)
