On June 13th , President Luis Abinader welcomed the presidents of the supreme courts of justice from participating countries to the National Palace. The visit was part of the Ordinary Meeting of the Central American and Caribbean Judicial Council (CJCC), with the Dominican Republic serving as the host.

The meeting, taking place from June 12 to 14, involved representatives from the judiciaries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and Puerto Rico. Cuba and Mexico sent observers from their respective supreme courts.

During the inauguration ceremony of the CJCC Regular Meeting in the Dominican Republic, Judge Maite Oronoz Rodríguez, President of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico, transferred the pro tempore presidency of the Central American and Caribbean Judicial Council to Magistrate Luis Henry Molina Peña, who serves as the President of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Council of the Dominican Judiciary.

It also establishes permanent coordination channels and institutional commitments to promote the development of effective processes and achieve common objectives.

During the visit with President Abinader, the attending magistrates included Luis Henry Molina Peña from the Supreme Court of Justice of the Dominican Republic, Orlando Aguirre Gomez from Costa Rica, Oscar Alberto López Jerez from El Salvador, Silvia P. Valdés Quezada from Guatemala, and Maite D. Oronoz Rodríguez, President of the Superior Court of Puerto Rico.

Furthermore, Alba Luz Ramos Vanegas, President of the Supreme Court of Justice of Nicaragua, María Eugenia López Arias from Panama, Roy Pinada Castro from Honduras, Rubén Remigio Ferro, President of the People’s Supreme Court of Cuba, and Lilia Mónica López Benítez, Counselor of the Federal Judiciary of Mexico, were also present at the meeting.
