Cuba. Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla presented on Wednesday 19 before the national and foreign press, at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry, the report “Need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba”, which will be presented at the United Nations General Assembly on November 2 and 3.
The text of the document includes the effects of the US policy against Cuba, for more than six decades, aimed at subverting the Cuban revolutionary process.
He emphasized that the blockade constitutes the main obstacle to the development of the country, leaving daily losses of 15 million dollars, only in the first 14 months of Joe Biden’s term.
He said that in the last seven months of this year, until last August, the effects caused by the blockade reached the figure of 3,806 million dollars and since 1960 totals 154,217 million dollars at current prices, this without taking into account the depreciation of the dollar.
In his speech, Rodriguez Parrilla explained the scope of the blockade, where the country is prevented from accessing bank loans, freely carrying out international banking operations, the prohibition of buying parts and equipment containing 10 percent of the American component, the pressures to which foreign companies and companies that try to negotiate with Cuba are subjected. the persecution of foreign ships and shipping companies that send fuel supplies to Cuba, together with disinformation and media war that is financed with U.S. federal funds.
He said that President Joe Biden can alleviate this situation by signing executive orders that would alleviate the lives of Cubans, since it would allow the country to begin its development without pressure or persecution.
He also denounced the inclusion of Cuba in the unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism, which creates serious problems, since it raises Cuba’s risk and greatly limits it in its international economic relations. This inclusion imposes a stigma on Cuban entities, making financial and commercial transactions extremely difficult, and the possibilities of payments and credits.
The U.S. blockade against Cuba is an act of economic warfare in peacetime that the current U.S. government maintains in force the most aggressive pressure measures adopted during Trump’s presidency.
