Mexican Senate grants Man of the Year Award to Cuban promoter. Cuban cultural promoter Daniel Martin expressed gratitude on Monday to the Mexican Senate for granting him the Man of the Year Award, due to his contributions to the Latin Music Institute (ILM), of which he is the president. The ceremony to grant annual award to outstanding people for their contributions to the country will take place at the venue of the Mexican Senate in May. Martin will become the first Cuban and the 11th foreigner to receive the Man of the Year Award. He won that recognition in that category for his contributions to the ILM and also for presiding over the Batuta Award organization and creating the cartoon Tito Reacciona, a character recognized in Mexico for its impact on the education and culture sectors. This year, Martin will support the production of a documentary to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the ILM in 2021, directed by the Cuban musician, ILM cultural ambassador and active member of the Hollywood Film Academy, Edesio Alejandro.
