Cuban artist conquers New York audience again. After making Cuba dance with his contagious music, Cimafunk’s rising career hits the international stage and he currently enjoys the satisfaction of once again attracting New York audiences. This young revelation of the Cuban music scene offered a free concert on August 25 at the Summer Stage in Central Park, and then played on August 26 and 27 at one of the most iconic clubs in this city: Blue Note Jazz Club. At first, he was worried about ‘being up to’ playing at the Blue Note, but tickets sold out and the audience’s euphoria each night surely calmed his fears. Cimafunk had appeared in March this year on several stages in this city and his ‘Cimarron funky’ style won the favor of the public and critics. ‘Going back to the Big Apple to play in Central Park was a dream come true. Since I was little I had heard about the place and playing a concert there makes me want to continue performing,’ the artist told Prensa Latina. Another surprise of this New York stop was sharing the stage this Sunday at Madison Square Garden with Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz, who invited him to perform together his famous song ‘Corazon partio.’ Cimafunk made his debut in the US in March at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas.
