Russia and Cuba reinforced energy, banking and health cooperation after meetings between Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas and officials from those fields in this capital.
The top official is meeting in Russia with a group of business people who have expressed interest in working with Cuba and with its Ministry of Transportation, according to a press release from the Cuban Embassy here.
Cabrisas met on Tuesday with the first vice governor of the Central Bank of Russia, Ksenia Yudaeva, with whom he discussed collaboration between the banking systems of the two countries, which ratified their will to further expand those ties for mutual interest.
The Cuban deputy prime minister also met on Tuesday with Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak, according to the same source.
The two officials reviewed the development of major projects in the energy sector that contribute to a prioritized program in Cuba, and agreed to boost their execution, as they are directly linked to the Caribbean island’s economic development.
Cabrisas and Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko exchanged views about the two countries’ experience in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
They also discussed bilateral cooperation in the field of health care, and the potentialities to expand relations in that field, particularly in medicine and biotechnology.
Cabrisas is accompanied by Ana Teresita Gonzalez Fraga, deputy minister for Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment; Emilio Lozada Garcia, general director of Bilateral Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, and other officials from the Government and the Cuban Embassy.
