The National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) approved on Friday a development plan for Pemex Exploración y Producción (PEP) to extract material in the Cheek field, in front of Ciudad de Carmen, Campeche.
According to CNH, this field is the fourth project approved to PEP of the 20 that are expected to be developed this year and in 2020. The remaining 16 are not yet presented to the commission for analysis and resolution.
According to a statement from the entity, this is a stretch associated with the Cheek field, which is located within the exploration assignment located 68 km northwest of Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche.
The approved Extraction Development Plan considers the recovery of the Cheek-1 exploratory well and the drilling of two additional wells. It is expected that 18.68 million barrels of 34 API oil and 14.89 billion cubic feet of natural gas will be extracted.
The Cheek field is not considered a ‘large field, but can contribute to rapidly increase production, at least of Pemex, within the timeframes considered in its strategy,’ said commissioner Alma America Porres during the session in which the PEP plan was approved.
This project is the fourth approved by the regulatory body of the 20 projects that Petroleos Mexicanos has within its strategy of accelerating hydrocarbon production.
The extraction development plan foresees an investment program of 339 million dollars, of which 219.8 million is for development and 64.9 million for production. PEP estimated in its plan 66 million dollars for drilling wells and 103 million for the construction of facilities, explains the statement. (PL)
