The Republic of Honduras carried out the official act of transferring the Pro Tempore Presidency (PPT) of the Central American Integration System (SICA), to the authorities of the Republic of Nicaragua for the period from July to December 2024.
During the transfer, Nicaragua reaffirmed its commitment to Central American integration and unity, receiving the PPT, establishing among its priorities: 1) institutional strengthening; 2) sustainable and inclusive development; 3) the fight for the eradication of poverty; 4) improve security, promoting actions against organized crime and drug activity; 5) boost economic and commercial integration; and 6) Climate justice and social integration.
Within the framework of the transfer meetings of the Pro Tempore Presidency of SICA from Honduras to Nicaragua, the delegations expressed their gratitude for the report presented and recognized the important leadership of the President of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, as well as that of the Chancellery authorities, sectoral Ministries and all work teams for their effective work to achieve important sectoral advances in the exercise of the SICA PPT carried out by the Government of the Republic of Honduras, during the first half of 2024.
The event chaired by the outgoing country was headed by the President of the Republic of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, who transferred the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Central American Integration System (SICA) to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, Denis Moncada, representing of President Daniel Ortega.
This event was accompanied by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Honduras, Eduardo Enrique Reina; the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala, Carlos Ramiro Martínez, delegations from SICA member countries, as well as the management team of the General Secretariat of SICA.
