American Airlines is significantly enhancing its winter 2025 offerings by increasing flight frequencies from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to three of Mexico’s most sought-after beach destinations: Cancún (CUN), Los Cabos (SJD), and Puerto Vallarta (PVR).

Starting in the upcoming winter season, the airline will add more flights to these popular locations, providing travelers with more options to escape the cold Midwest winter and enjoy the warm coastal retreats of Mexico.

This expansion marks a pivotal moment in the airline’s commitment to improving its service offerings and meeting the growing demand for travel to these top destinations. With the announcement of new flights and improved services, American Airlines aims to make it even easier for travelers to experience the beauty and luxury of Mexico’s premier beach resorts.

Increasing Frequencies to Popular Mexican Beach Destinations

As part of the winter 2025 expansion, American Airlines will operate two daily flights from Chicago to Los Cabos, starting on November 2, 2025.

Located at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula, Los Cabos is known for its stunning beaches, clear blue waters, and luxurious resorts.

The city has become a major destination for beach lovers, honeymooners, and travelers seeking relaxation and adventure alike. With the increase in flights, American Airlines is poised to accommodate the rising number of travelers flocking to this picturesque beach destination.

Puerto Vallarta, another popular Mexican beach destination, will also benefit from this expanded service. From December 18, 2025, to January 6, 2026, American Airlines will operate two daily flights to Puerto Vallarta, catering to the surge in travelers during the holiday season.

Located along the Pacific coast in the state of Jalisco, Puerto Vallarta boasts vibrant nightlife, picturesque beaches, and charming cobblestone streets lined with colonial-style architecture. It’s no wonder that Puerto Vallarta has become a favorite destination for both international tourists and domestic travelers.

In addition to these new services, American Airlines will continue to operate multiple daily flights to Cancún, one of Mexico’s most famous beach destinations, which has long been a top choice for vacationers from the United States.

Located on the Yucatán Peninsula, Cancún offers an incredible mix of white-sand beaches, luxury resorts, ancient Mayan ruins, and lively nightlife, making it a versatile destination for both relaxation and adventure.

Dual-Class Regional Jets for Premium Travel

Starting June 5, 2025, all American Airlines flights departing from Chicago O’Hare to these beach destinations will be operated on dual-class regional jets.

The introduction of dual-class service reflects American Airlines’ commitment to providing premium options for its customers. These regional jets, equipped with both First Class and Main Cabin seating, will enhance the travel experience for all passengers by offering greater comfort, upgraded services, and more flexibility.

Passengers will enjoy premium amenities on all Chicago flights, ensuring a superior travel experience, whether they are heading to the beach for a quick getaway or embarking on a longer vacation.

The dual-class jets will also provide travelers with more choice in seating and service options, allowing them to select the level of comfort that best fits their needs. The addition of premium seating options on all flights to Cancún, Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta will cater to both business and leisure travelers seeking more personalized experiences and added convenience on their journey.

Enhancements at Chicago O’Hare International Airport

To support the expanded service and accommodate the growing number of travelers, significant improvements have been made at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. These upgrades are designed to enhance passenger experience and streamline the overall travel process.

The airport has introduced new self-service kiosks and reconfigured its lobby to improve the efficiency of check-in procedures, ensuring that passengers can enjoy faster processing times and a smoother flow through the terminal.

The changes at O’Hare are expected to reduce waiting times, provide a more convenient check-in experience, and support the increasing number of flights. Given that Chicago O’Hare serves as a major hub for American Airlines, these upgrades are critical for handling the added capacity and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

The enhanced facilities are part of an ongoing effort to improve the overall experience for passengers traveling from one of the world’s busiest airports.

Expansion of American Airlines’ Network from Chicago O’Hare

The increase in flights to these popular Mexican beach destinations is part of American Airlines’ broader strategy to expand its network from Chicago O’Hare.

The airline has long considered Chicago O’Hare a key hub for both domestic and international travel, and the new service to Cancún, Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta is a reflection of the airline’s continued investment in this critical gateway. As one of the busiest airports in the United States, Chicago O’Hare provides American Airlines with a strategic advantage in connecting travelers from the Midwest to a variety of domestic and international destinations.

In total, American Airlines plans to introduce seven new international routes from ORD for the winter 2025 season, further solidifying Chicago’s position as a crucial hub in American Airlines’ global network. These new routes will not only increase access to Mexico’s beach destinations but will also add flights to other key vacation spots in the Caribbean, Central America, and beyond.

Supporting Mexico’s Airport Infrastructure Growth

To handle the growing number of international travelers, particularly to beach destinations like Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, and Cancún, Mexican airport infrastructure is also expanding.

Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), the company responsible for operating major airports across the country, has announced a significant investment plan.

In February 2025, GAP revealed plans to invest US$2.5 billion in modernizing and expanding 12 of its airports in the central and western regions of Mexico.

This investment will include major upgrades to airports like Puerto Vallarta International Airport, where a new 74,000-square-meter terminal will be constructed, and the Tijuana International Airport, which will also receive expansions to improve passenger capacity.

These infrastructure improvements are aimed at enhancing the passenger experience, supporting greater air traffic capacity, and ensuring that international travelers can enjoy a seamless travel experience when visiting Mexico’s world-class beach destinations.

Booking and Travel Information

American Airlines passengers interested in booking flights to these new and expanded destinations can visit the airline’s official website or use its mobile app to check schedules, availability, and fares.

With the added flight frequencies and premium service options, American Airlines is committed to offering more flexibility and convenience for travelers looking to enjoy the sun, sand, and culture of Mexico’s most iconic beach destinations.

As travelers plan their winter 2025 vacations, American Airlines provides a convenient and comfortable travel experience with frequent flights to Mexico’s most popular coastal retreats, including Cancún, Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta. With the enhancements at Chicago O’Hare and the expansion of flights to key international destinations, American Airlines continues to be a leading airline for Midwest travelers seeking warmth and relaxation in Mexico’s tropical paradise.
