Viva celebrates its new nonstop route from OAK Airport to Guadalajara, Mexico, with daily flights aboard Airbus A320 and A321, expanding its San Francisco Bay connections.

Yesterday, Viva, the latest international airline to join OAK Airport, celebrated the launch of its new nonstop route connecting the San Francisco Bay Area at OAK to Guadalajara (GDL). This daily service will be operated using Viva’s modern fleet of Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, which accommodate 186 and 240 passengers, respectively. Viva initially began operations at OAK in July this year with its first-ever flights to Monterrey. That route saw an increase in frequency from two to three weekly flights starting November 1, 2024.

The new Guadalajara flight schedule is as follows:

Southbound: Departs OAK at 11:20 PM, arrives in GDL at 5:15 AM (daily)

Northbound: Departs GDL at 7:45 PM, arrives at OAK at 9:50 PM (daily)

“We’re impressed with the growth and reliability that Viva has demonstrated since they began service at OAK this past July,” said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Craig Simon. “What began as 2 weekly flights is now, just 5 months later, 10 weekly flights reflecting the demand for travelers to use OAK. Viva’s entry into the San Francisco Bay Area market exclusively at OAK has helped make OAK the region’s top gateway to Mexico. We know that there are deep ties between Jalisco and the East Bay, this new daily flight will be a welcome addition to our international schedule.”

“As part of our expansion strategy in the US, this service will offer the people of the Oakland and San Francisco Bay Area a unique opportunity to discover the cultural and natural beauty that Guadalajara offers. Thanks to our low fares, modern fleet and increased connectivity, American passengers will also be able to easily connect to any of the 32 routes we offer from Guadalajara,” said Viva’s EVP and Chief Planning and Alliances Officer, Javier Suárez.

Guadalajara, the capital of Mexico’s Jalisco state, seamlessly blends a thriving tech and manufacturing industry with historic architecture, a dynamic arts community, and a vibrant cultural atmosphere.
