Copa Airlines, a subsidiary of Copa Holdings, S. A. (NYSE: CPA) and member of the global airline network Star Alliance, is once again recognized by CIRIUM as “The most punctual airline in Latin America” in 2023. The recognition, which was presented during a ceremony held at the Copa Airlines Maintenance Center in Panama City, highlights that the airline achieved the highest punctuality rate on the continent with 89.5% in on-time arrivals, significantly above the airlines that followed it in the region. Likewise, this index achieved the highest in all of America and is among the three highest in the world.

“Being recognized again as the most punctual airline in Latin America and obtaining the best punctuality result in the entire American continent is the result of our firm purpose of connecting the Americas reliably and on time. This achievement is possible thanks to the teamwork, commitment, effort, and dedication of the human talent of Copa Airlines in Panama and in all the countries where we operate, which is a source of great pride and satisfaction for all of us,” commented Pedro Heilbron, President Copa Airlines executive.

In addition to highlighting Copa Airlines’ punctuality achievements, the report “The On-Time Performance (OTP)” 2023, presented by CIRIUM, highlighted the airline’s impressive itinerary compliance factor for the same period, which stood at 99.84%, which makes Copa one of the two airlines that cancel the fewest flights in the world.

«Congratulations to Copa Airlines not only for its exceptional punctuality in 2023 but also for its consistency in being the most punctual Latin American airline not only in 2023 but in nine of the last 10 years. Their consistency is a testament to their commitment to operational excellence,” said Jeremy Bowen, CEO of CIRIUM.

Punctuality and reliability are fundamental values for Copa Airlines, this is reflected in the fact that for the ninth time, the airline is recognized by CIRIUM as the most punctual in the region; a leadership that it maintains so far in 2024 with an index registered in January of 89.4% and in February of 91.6% in on-time arrivals.

During the CIRIUM recognition ceremony for Copa Airlines, the airline gave special recognition to a group of 20 employees from different departments, representing all those who make it possible for the airline to continue being a leader in punctuality in the region.

The CIRIUM ranking evaluates the performance of 500 airlines according to the number of seats and flights, as well as the availability of seats per kilometer, and categorizes them into “global” and “regional”. This ranking is based on information collected from more than 600 real-time global flight sources, including airlines, airports, global distribution systems, position data, and civil aviation authorities.

This recognition adds to the numerous awards that Copa received in 2023, including being named one of the “15 Best International Airlines” by the Readers’ Choice awards from the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler magazine. Additionally, Copa was also recognized for the 8th consecutive year as the best airline in Central America and the Caribbean by Skytrax and obtained “5-star” airline status from APEX. These awards, in which the judges are the passengers themselves, make this new Cirium award even more special for the airline.
