The Iberojet airline, owned by Ávoris Corporación Empresarial, announced today that from November 11, 2022 it will start operating a new route connecting Madrid with Santiago de Cuba.

According to the company, which previously carried the name of Evelop, it will be a direct and non-stop route aboard an Airbus A330, and as a promotional price it will be at 283 euros per leg in all official channels for sale as of this Wednesday.

Paul Verhagen, Iberojet’s deputy general manager, commented that “with the opening of this new route to the emblematic city of Santiago de Cuba, Iberojet is once again demonstrating its firm commitment to Cuba, a country we have been flying to since the start of our operations in 2013.

Not only do we demonstrate our continued commitment to this incredible country, but also our company continues to work on diversifying vacation destinations in the Spanish market, an ambitious development plan that is conceived with the inauguration of this new route, Verhagen added.

The company said in a statement that the direct flight to Santiago de Cuba from Madrid will operate all year round and represents a great opportunity to visit Santiago de Cuba, the island’s second most important city in terms of population, history, culture and its port, one of the largest in the Caribbean.

In December 2021, Iberojet opened its first office in Havana’s Miramar Trade Center, proof of the company’s commitment to continue strengthening its presence and service offerings in Cuba.

Niurka Perez Denis, Tourism Counselor of the Cuban Embassy in Spain and Portugal, said that the inauguration of this direct flight to Santiago de Cuba “is a pleasant news for our country’s tourism sector”. (PL)
