Central America currently leads expectations for passenger traffic growth in Latin America and the Caribbean between 2022 and 2025, according to an IATA report released in Panama.
In the report, Willie Walsh, Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), assured that the post-Covid-19 recovery does not vary with the Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19, because people want to continue traveling, which will increase when the current restrictions are lifted.
The agency’s plans state that traffic to, from and within Latin America will be strong in 2022, with limited travel restrictions and dynamic passenger flows within the region, and to and from North America.
Amid that outlook, IATA expects that 2019 traveler figures are exceeded in Central America by 102 percent in 2023; 109 percent in 2024; and 115 percent in 2025.
