The IX Summit of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) concluded this Friday in the colonial city of Antigua Guatemala, with a final declaration agreed by the more than 60 participating delegations.

The heads of state and government present and other personalities, commissioned by the member countries, analyzed the agreements reached the day before during the XXVIII Ordinary Meeting of the Ministerial Council, the regional agenda and the alliances to be signed for the future.

The host Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mario Búcaro, highlighted on Thursday the representation of nations in this meeting, an expression of the road traveled, the current global challenges and the importance of integration to overcome them, he said.

“We celebrate each of the events in the framework of this IX Summit as a firm testimony of the importance of the ACS and of unity for our States,” he said in his speech.

The foreign ministers and observers reaffirmed their support for the meeting, while Saudi Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud indicated that his country will strengthen relations in the areas of trade, climate change and sustainable development.

To date -it was reported- that Middle Eastern territory has granted the Caribbean an investment of 1.8 million dollars, is working on links with the region to grant another 2.4 million and 11 loans for infrastructure, renewable energy and clean water in the framework of climate change.

Meanwhile, South Korea’s foreign minister, Park Jin, reaffirmed his contribution to the creation of a research center between his state and the Caribbean, the second phase of sandy coasts and packaging.

Guatemala aspires to achieve clear objectives in terms of multidimensional cooperation, green and blue agendas, economic reactivation, investments and the approach to migration from a development perspective.

The meeting of Heads of State and Government will be the culmination of five days of meetings and cooperation and investment forums in favor of the Greater Caribbean, in search of a new impetus to strengthen alliances for the common benefit.
