Iberia will increase its flight offerings to Latin America throughout the year, with flights to Lima and Bogota as its primary focus.

Iberia has announced additional details concerning its post-pandemic recovery plans. It has shared that this summer, it primarily wants to focus on expanding its services to Latin America. While it has shared plans to expand services to the US and Europe, it anticipates that the Latin American air travel markets possess the largest growth opportunity.

The airline plans to offer more flights to Latin America throughout the summer season than ever before, surpassing 2019 numbers. It has shared that this growth has been fueled by strong post-pandemic travel demand and that it is looking to surpass 2019 numbers in every category this year.

Latin American expansion

The Airline’s expansion plans revolve around increasing flight frequency to the 16 destinations it serves in Latin America. Iberia plans to focus this growth throughout the summer, which it defines as being from March 25th to October 28th. The expansion plans come as the airline has successfully rebuilt its entire route network. With all of its operations that were hindered by the pandemic back in place, it is in a position where it can once again begin expanding its operations.

It finds that the most underserved markets it flies to are primarily in Latin America. With this knowledge, airline executives have decided to focus the bulk of the airline’s expansion in the region. In the Latin American markets, it flies to, Iberia will begin launching marketing campaigns and sponsorship programs while improving public relations wherever possible to strengthen its presence and inform the traveling public of its offerings. Iberia’s Commercial, Network, and Alliances Director, María Jesús López-Solás, shared how Latin America is a crucial part of the airline’s recovery and expansion strategy, stating.

Increased offerings

As Iberia has recovered from the pandemic, it has drawn up various plans to expand its influence across Latin America. Ultimately, it has chosen to focus on increasing the weekly flights it flies to existing destinations. This summer, the airline will offer approximately 280 weekly flights to 18 airports across 16 Latin American Countries. Last year the airline increased many of its flight frequencies to these destinations and plans to do so again this year.

Some of the most notable frequency increases include an increase from seven to 10 weekly flights to Lima, Peru, and flights to Bogotá, Colombia, which will increase from 14 to 18 weekly. Both destinations have proven to be fruitful for the airline throughout its pandemic recovery. These destinations will be the airline’s primary expansion focus in the region, as it has wanted to expand capacity at these two airports since last year. This past December, Iberia announced the plans to expand flight frequencies to these cities this summer. Additional expansion to other cities in the region will primarily come in the final months of 2023. (https://simpleflying.com/ibeia-boosts-latin-america-schedule-summer-2023/)
