Travel magazine Travel and World Tour (TWT) published the list of the safest Caribbean destinations last week, noting that these islands are “ideal for travellers seeking peace of mind.”

The Cayman Islands, Barbados, Dominica, Saint Lucia, Aruba, and Bermuda stood out as the Caribbean’s safest islands.

The magazine wrote, “According to the U.S. Department of State, these islands hold a Level 1 advisory rating, meaning they are low-risk destinations where travellers are advised to ‘Exercise Normal Precautions.’”

Together with the friendly environment of every island and first-rate medical facilities, this ranking appeals especially to visitors—including couples and single people.

Dominica was noted for low crime rates.

“Dominica’s low crime rate makes it an ideal choice for solo travellers, particularly nature enthusiasts,” the magazine said.

“Travelers can explore with confidence and safety using the several guided trips for hiking, diving, and other environmentally responsible pursuits. The island’s emphasis on sustainable tourism and conservation offers everyone a safe environment. Local guides are informed and prioritise tourist safety, improving the experience for those travelling into Dominica’s natural surroundings.

Said to be the “Nature Island of the Caribbean,” Dominica is renowned for its unspoiled rainforests, hot springs, and challenging hiking paths.

“With over 70,000 foreign visitors in 2023, Dominica has emerged as a preferred destination for eco-tourism,” the magazine noted.

Twenty-three per cent of arrivals were American guests and twenty-one per cent came from the French West Indies.

The Cayman Islands also distinguished themselves with their low crime rate and “friendly atmosphere and safety-oriented approach make it an ideal choice for all travellers.”

Barbados is a perfect place for both single and group visitors because of its active nightlife and busy markets in safe surroundings. Furthermore, TWT claimed that its sophisticated healthcare system gives visitors a peace of mind. According to TWT, Saint Lucia was named for its low crime rate and government maintenance of solid security that guarantees visitors’ safety.

TWT said Aruba’s “infrastructure is built to support tourism security, making public spaces, beaches, and hotel areas safe and accessible for everyone, including solo travellers and families.” Aruba is still a first choice for people looking for a calm, safe Caribbean vacation with friendly residents and a laid-back vibe.

Bermuda was noted for its “meager crime rate” and well-kept infrastructure, which TWT notes “allows a safe and pleasant experience for all visitors.” (https://thecaribbeannewsnow.com/safest-caribbean-destinations-2024/)
