During an official visit to the Dominican Republic, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized efforts to revive Russian tourism to the country and resume direct flights. Speaking at the Foreign Ministry’s Convention Center (Mirex), Lavrov highlighted the importance of taking concrete steps to restore tourism flow and boost broader economic cooperation between the two nations.

Lavrov also announced ongoing discussions about eliminating visa requirements and expressed Russia’s interest in deepening trade ties with the Dominican Republic. He proposed forming a bilateral Working Group for Economic and Trade Cooperation, with appointed co-chairs from both governments, to strengthen this relationship.

He reaffirmed that Russia sees the Dominican Republic as a valuable partner in Latin America and the Caribbean, underlining strong political will to expand collaboration in tourism and commerce.
