Days after Hurricane Melissa cut a devastating path through Jamaica on Oct. 28, Hyatt Inclusive Collection said its resorts on the island have temporarily suspended operations and won’t accept new reservations through Jan. 31.
In a statement the company said it is “conducting a detailed assessment to determine the extent of the physical damage to all properties.”
The Hyatt Inclusive Collection resorts are Breathless Montego Bay Resort & Spa; Dreams Rose Hall Resort & Spa; Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall; Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall; Secrets St. James Montego Bay; Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay; Jewel Grande Montego Bay Resort & Spa; and Zoetry Montego Bay Jamaica.
The news came as Jamaica minister of tourism Edmund Bartlett set a Dec. 15 target date for Jamaica’s tourism industry to be fully back in operation.
Sandals Resorts International said it is conducting a comprehensive assessment of its resorts following the storm. (https://www.travelweekly.com/Travel-News/Hotel-News/Hyatt-resorts-close-temporarily-Melissa?ct=carib)
