From large, internationally branded properties to unique boutique properties, travelers can find many fresh accommodation options around Central and South America.

Positive growth in Latin America’s hospitality sector is confirmed by statistics from Lodging Econometrics, which reports that the fourth quarter of 2024 was an especially strong time for new hotel development in the Latin American pipeline — a jump of 15% in hotel projects, to be exact.

Here are some of the newest hotels around Central and South America.

New Hotels in Argentina

Among the newest hotel names in Argentina is the Sheraton Buenos Aires Greenville Polo and Resort, which opened in 2024. The five-star property, located about 25 minutes from downtown Buenos Aires, is set adjacent to polo fields, providing guests with the opportunity to watch polo matches. The hotel also has an outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts.

New Hotels in Brazil

Hilton is in growth mode in Brazil, having opened the 135-room Yoo2 Rio de Janeiro, Tapestry Collection by Hilton last year. New properties opening this year include the 137-room Tru by Hilton Chapeco in Santa Catarina, the 175-room Hampton by Hilton Caraguatatuba Serramar on the northern coast of São Paulo and the 105-room DoubleTree by Hilton Canela in Rio Grande do Sul.

New Hilton properties slated to open in 2026 include the Casa Costa Ilhabela, Curio Collection by Hilton, while 2027 will witness the opening of the Casa di Sirena Campos do Jordão, Curio Collection by Hilton and Tru by Hilton São Paulo Congonhas Airport.

New hotels in Marriott International’s Brazil portfolio, meanwhile, include the W São Paolo, which opened in December 2024 in the Vila Olimpia neighborhood of São Paolo with a restaurant, outdoor swimming pool and fitness center. The hotel is scheduled to open a new spa in April 2025.

Also new in Brazil’s largest city is the Soho House São Paolo, which opened in June 2024 as the company’s first hotel in South America. The 32-room property is located on Avenida Paulista in Cidade Matarazzo, a complex that’s home to a cultural center, restaurants and retail shopping. Soho House has a gym, spa, rooftop pool and bar, restaurants, and club spaces for members.

New Hotels in Chile

One of Chile’s upcoming hotel openings is actually the return of a well-known name. Tierra Atacama, located in northern Chile’s Atacama Desert, will reopen in April 2025 following a year-long closure for renovations. The room count will be reduced from 32 to 28 rooms as part of the revamp, with four suites featuring private Jacuzzis and dedicated vehicles and guides.

Also slated to open in mid-2025 is the Tru by Hilton Chillan Ferrat, located in the southern Chile city of Chillan.

New Hotels in Colombia

The Caribbean coastal city of Cartagena is witnessing the debut of unique upscale properties. Casa Carolina, a boutique hotel in Cartagena’s historic walled city section, opened in December 2024 in a 16th-century structure with 15 guest rooms, a rooftop terrace, a café and a wellness area for yoga.

The 131-room Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Cartagena, meanwhile, is scheduled to open in mid-2025 in the Getsemani neighborhood, with eight restaurants, two rooftop pools and a spa.

New Hotels in Costa Rica

Guanacaste is destined to become an even bigger hotspot for luxury travel in Costa Rica. Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is slated to open this month (March 2025) in Costa Rica’s Peninsula Papagayo. The 107-room property will have three luxury treetop tents as a unique accommodation option, as well as a spa, restaurants and easy access to Palmares Preserve, a 250-acre protected area that is near the property.

Slated to open on May 1 in the same region is the Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique, which will have six restaurants, a spa and a multilevel swimming pool.

New Hotels in Panama

In February, La Compañía Hotels & Resorts — which opened a luxury boutique hotel in Panama City in 2022 — debuted Hotel La Compañía del Valle, a member of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt located in El Valle de Antón, a destination popular for its natural beauty and pleasant climate. The property offers activities including hiking, e-biking and horseback riding and has a sculpture park with more than 200 pieces of art. In May, the hotel will debut an 18,000-square-foot spa.

New Hotels in Paraguay

New Hotels in Peru

Opening in March 2025 is Souma Hotel Lima, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’s Vignette Collection. Located in Lima’s upscale Miraflores neighborhood, the 214-room property has an outdoor pool, spa and restaurant.
