The Dominican Republic continues to be a top choice for Colombian travelers, surpassing even the Mexican Caribbean in popularity. According to Pablo Jaitman, Country Manager of Despegar Colombia, Punta Cana has seen increasing demand, making it the second most sought-after vacation package on Despegar in 2024 and the top international destination.

For 2025, travel trends indicate that Madrid, Miami, Orlando, Punta Cana, Mexico, and Panama remain the top international destinations for Colombian tourists. Domestically, Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Santa Marta, and San Andrés continue to dominate.

Jaitman expressed optimism about Colombia’s tourism growth, citing the country’s diverse landscapes and cultural heritage as key factors. He emphasized that Despegar will continue expanding its offerings to meet the rising demand from both local and international travelers.
