Latin America’s hotel industry is experiencing robust expansion, with the Dominican Republic emerging as the region’s fastest-growing market, according to the Lodging Econometrics Q3 2025 trends report. The country’s hotel construction pipeline now includes 81 projects totaling 17,351 rooms, marking a 37% increase in projects and a 20% rise in rooms compared to last year. This positions the Dominican Republic as a leading investment destination in the regional tourism sector.

Across Latin America, the report recorded 751 hotel projects under construction—equivalent to 116,480 rooms—reflecting year-on-year growth of 17% in projects and 11% in rooms. The luxury segment continues to dominate, with 143 projects and 27,387 rooms, followed by the upper-upscale category, which includes 124 projects and 22,420 rooms. The region also reported the renovation of 173 projects, underscoring a focus on modernizing existing infrastructure.

While Mexico remains the regional leader in volume with 264 hotels and 40,412 rooms, and Brazil follows with 123 projects, the Dominican Republic stands out for its rapid growth and investor momentum. Together, these three countries account for 62% of all projects in the region. With 45 hotels already opened in 2025 and expectations of 80 total openings by year-end, the outlook remains highly positive. The Dominican Republic’s construction surge reinforces its role as a powerhouse of Caribbean tourism and a driver of regional economic confidence.
