Bahamian private island destination Blue Lagoon Island has resumed excursions from Nassau—calling Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line, MSC Cruises, and Norwegian Cruise Line, the company announced.
Surrounded by clear blue waters, the private island features white-sand beaches, lunch and tropical drink options, beachside bars, craft shops, and opportunities to interact with marine animals.
Blue Lagoon Island “has further enhanced its safety policies, procedures, and staff training and certifications, which exceed industry standards,” said officials. The reopening follows a pause in operations after the November 2023 sinking of a transfer vessel ferrying more than 100 passengers from Nassau to the private island, which killed one passenger.
“We are pleased to welcome our cruise partners back to Blue Lagoon Island,” said Robert Meister, managing director. “Cruise visitors to Nassau will have the opportunity to enjoy our private beaches and calm lagoon, adding an unforgettable experience to their itinerary and creating lasting memories.”
In addition to family-friendly and kids-free areas and activities, Blue Lagoon Island also provides training to and collaborates with local, regional, and international organizations and schools regarding marine education, nature conservancy, marine conservation programs, and beach, waterway, and ocean cleanup initiatives, officials said.
