The Islands of The Bahamas have earned the titles of Caribbean’s Leading Luxury Island Destination 2024 and Caribbean’s Leading Sports Tourism Destination 2024, bestowed by the esteemed World Travel Awards. These accolades are recognized as benchmarks of excellence within the travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors.

“It is quite an honour for The Bahamas to be recognized by the World Travel Awards in two categories that are near and dear to our hearts. These awards demonstrate the dedication of Team Tourism,” said the Honourable I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation for The Bahamas. “Travellers seeking luxury and sports adventures will find plenty to enjoy in the paradise of The Bahamas.”

“Winning these awards is an incredible achievement for The Bahamas. It reflects our ongoing efforts to promote sustainable tourism while providing unforgettable experiences. From our pristine beaches to our state-of-the-art sports facilities, we strive to exceed the expectations of our visitors. This recognition motivates us to continue on our path of excellence,” said Latia Duncombe, Director General, Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation. “Over the years we have also focused on growing our sports tourism sector – from sailing regattas, fishing tournaments and athletic events – we offer a dynamic playground for sports enthusiasts, so we are thrilled to take home the award for the Caribbean’s Leading Sports Tourism Destination.”

The Bahamas, with its 16 major islands and numerous cays spanning 100,000 square miles of crystal-clear ocean, beckons travelers with a vibrant culture that celebrates sun-soaked fun and adventure. Accessible by sea and air, the Bahamas offers accommodations for every budget, complemented by a plethora of experiences. From national parks and marine reserves to shopping, dining, historical sites, art galleries, and museums, there’s something for everyone to enjoy on land, underwater, and above the waves.

Outdoor enthusiasts will find endless possibilities in The Bahamas. Divers and snorkelers can explore the wonders of the Andros Barrier Reef, the world’s third-largest, while deep-sea fishing charters, sailing cruises, kiteboarding, parasailing, and more await those seeking high-seas excitement. Nature lovers can visit the Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve on Eleuthera, showcasing over 300 native plant species and abundant bird and medicinal plants, or explore the expansive Moriah Harbour Cay National Park in Exuma, featuring pristine beaches, sand dunes, coral reefs, and more across 22,833 acres of natural beauty.

Beyond its natural splendor, The Bahamas leads in sustainable tourism across the Caribbean, pioneering innovative strategies and fostering collaborative efforts to address climate change and promote sustainable development.
