UEFA weighs changing format of current Champions League. The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is weighing changing the format of the Champions League by holding a mini-tournament in a single venue, ESPN reported on Monday. The UEFA would be considering concluding the 2019-2020 season of the Champions League with a mini-tournament, and Lisbon is one of three options to hold the event, the US TV station added. The continental contest was suspended on March 12 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, when some games in the round of 16 had not been played. Istanbul, the Turkish city selected for the finals, seems to be discarded, and Lisbon has emerged as an alternative venue to host the League in a small format, presumably in August. A priori, the quarter finals and semifinals would be played in a single game, as well as the match for the title. So far, the teams that have qualified for the quarter finals are Atletico de Madrid, the defending champion Liverpool, Paris Saint Germain, Atlanta and Leipzig.
