The president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, arrives today in Spain to attend the IV International Conference on Financing for Development of the United Nations, which will be inaugurated tomorrow in Seville city.
Castro will arrive in the afternoon to the capital of the southern Spanish autonomous community of Andalusia to participate in the conference, which will be attended by more than 60 heads of state and government from around the world.
In a statement to the Honduran media, the ambassador of Tegucigalpa in Madrid, Marlon Brevé, announced that the president will be the first dignitary to speak at the opening plenary on Monday.
The first woman president of Honduras will open discussions on reforming the global financial system, with a message that will also represent Latin America and the Caribbean, said the diplomat.
This summit, convened by the UN, which will bring together multilateral agencies, representatives of the private sector and civil society, aims to promote a more equitable financial architecture.
During his stay in the Iberian nation, Castro will meet with the president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez next Tuesday, after which it is expected to announce important joint projects, revealed Brevé.
