Cuba has denounced the interference of United States representatives in the internal affairs of Honduras and Venezuela, and demanded the cessation of this practice against progressive governments in Latin America.

President Miguel Díaz-Canel expressed through X, his support and solidarity with his Honduran counterpart, Xiomara Castro, in response to the statements of the U.S. ambassador in Tegucigalpa, Laura Dogu, in relation to the visit of two senior Honduran officials to Venezuela.

The opinions of the American diplomat, issued after the trip made by the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Roosevelt Hernández, and the Minister of Defense José Manuel Zelaya to Venezuela, were described by the Honduran president as “intolerable and interfering.”

The event led the Government of Honduras to terminate the extradition treaty signed since nineteen twelve between the United States and the Central American country.

Also the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, rejected the interference of the United States in the internal affairs of that nation, and warned about the complaints made by Xiomara Castro regarding the existence of a plan against her Government.

Cuba’s top diplomat also rejected recent statements by the head of the United States Southern Command, General Laura Richardson, about Venezuela, which he stated, seek to interfere in the internal affairs of the Bolivarian nation.

The highest representative of Cuban diplomacy pointed out on X that Richardson’s statements are intended to support destabilization and violence in the South American country. (https://cubasi.cu/en/news/cuba-denounces-us-interference-latin-american-nations)
