President Miguel Díaz-Canel denounced on Thursday that for more than 30 years, the United States has ignored and disrespected the international community at the United Nations General Assembly by maintaining and strengthening the blockade.
On X, formerly Twitter, Díaz-Canel added that his country will continue to insist and present before that body the report entitled “Necessity of Ending the Economic, Commercial, and Financial Blockade Imposed by the United States of against Cuba.”
The debate on the project, presented by Cuba and supported by speakers from all continents, began at the United Nations on Monday.
The resolution, which estimates the damage caused by that policy, 4.867 billion dollars between March 1, 2022, and February 28, 2023, will be voted on this Thursday.
In total, the economic damage based on current prices amounts to 159.084 billion dollars and more than 1.337 trillion dollars, taking into account the exchange rate of the dollar against the value of gold in the international market.
The effects of the compendium of measures exceed 405 million dollars per month, equivalent to one million dollars every two hours. (PL)
