The World Health Organization (WHO) is extremely concerned about the Covid-19 pandemic in phase 4 of community transmission.
“We are concerned about the disease situation in places like Nicaragua,” WHO Executive Programme Executive Director Michael Ryan told EFE.
Daniel Ortega’s government recognizes 1,118 positive cases of coronavirus and 46 deaths. For its part, the independent organization Observatory Citizen raises the figure to 4,217 contagions and to 980 deaths.

The Pan American Health Organization recognizes that Nicaragua is in the stage of community transmission, in the meantime the Government of Nicaragua continues to unofficially stage the pandemic.
Community transmission cases are cases of infected persons in which no epidemiological link can be established with any “imported or index” case or a “secondary” case.
From that moment on, the scientific community considers that the coVID-19 coronavirus virus “is already circulating in the population, in society, in some neighborhood, or in a country”.
