The results of a recent poll by Costa Rican firm Borge & Asociados were highlighted this Wednesday, reflecting the unpopularity of certain opposition politicians in Nicaragua.
The visible faces of the opposition, who aspire to become presidential candidates (for the November 2021 elections), are stagnated, repeating the same discourse as last year and totally out of touch with the population, the Informe Pastran bulletin reported.
The poll included at least five prospective presidential candidates, revealing that none exceeds 4% popularity among the Nicaraguan population.
Meanwhile, and despite the intense national and international media campaign against them, the latest poll by the Costa Rican firm reflects that 57% of respondents have a good opinion of President Daniel Ortega and 47.6% also thought highly of Vice President Rosario Murillo.
If the elections took place today, Ortega would surpass opposition candidates with an up to 25 points lead, according to the poll.
The ruling Sandinista National Liberation Front has a 40.6% approval rating, and among the traditional parties, the closest rival is the Constitutionalist Liberal Party, with 4.3% approval.
