One of the great artists of Cuban performing arts, Rosita Fornés, known as the “star of Cuba,” died at 4:07am, June 10, in the U.S. city of Miami.
The information was confirmed to our newspaper by the Union of Cuban Writers and Artists, an organization that recognizes the artist’s great legacy. The Ministry of Culture published a message on social media stating that Rosita, our 2001 National Prize for Theater winner, honored with many other distinctions and recognitions, will always be remembered by the public she charmed around the world and especially by the people of Cuba. “We offer our condolences to family, friends, and your great audience.”
According to a post on the Rosita Fornés Facebook page, the actress bid farewell to life at the age of 97, with several family members and friends at her side.
