The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) made a disbursement of US$7.5 million to continue with the construction of the new Gorgas Campus, an emblematic project aimed at strengthening public health and scientific research in Panama and the region.
This disbursement is part of the total financing of US$70 million approved by CABEI and will allow construction work to continue, which is currently 11% complete. The project includes the development of modern, safe, and sustainable facilities for diagnosis, epidemiological surveillance, and training of specialized health professionals.
Beyond infrastructure, this investment will have a tangible impact on the quality of life of millions of people. The new campus will strengthen the country’s capacity to respond to health emergencies, promote job creation, boost regional scientific cooperation, and contribute to improving access to quality public health services, especially for the most vulnerable populations.
As a driver of positive transformation, CABEI reaffirms its mission to promote strategic initiatives that foster well-being, integration, and sustainable development in the countries it serves, with a particular focus on high-impact projects such as this one in Panama.
