The Brazilian company Odebrecht was sanctioned for non-compliance with the contract to expand Tocumen Airport, in this capital, although the fine amount has not yet been set by experts, local authorities reported on Wednesday.
With the goal of guaranteeing the State’s best interests, the new Board of Directors of the Tocumen International Airport (AITSA) decided to sanction the Brazilian firm daily, starting on Monday until the project is completed, according to a statement from AITSA sent to Prensa Latina.
At the same time, the sixth annex of the original contract was extended for six months, so that the contractors can complete and deliver the work without additional payments, the source added.
The team of engineers from Tocumen and the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic are making a detailed assessment of the pending components of the project, which should have been completed on September 30, according to the schedule agreed upon by the parties. (PL)
