President Alejandro Giammattei called on the Central American union to attract investment and competitiveness to the region, following the coronavirus emergency (COVID-19).
“I want to call on every country in the region to work together and integrate our economies. Let’s fight smuggling and smuggling together, because as a bloc we will be much stronger,” the representative said during his participation in the virtual forum organized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
The ruler noted that the union of countries reinforces the attractiveness and competitiveness of the region, which can translate into long-term investment opportunities.
He also indicated that the Government of Guatemala continued to promote actions to “increase our exports”, in order to result in the creation of more companies and jobs.
“We want to be a country that attracts investment so that we have better incomes, that can translate into goods, services and infrastructure across the country,” he said.
The representative stressed that the team that is part of the Government “understands the need for the country” arising from the impact of COVID-19 on Guatemala and argued that “no effort will be spared” to achieve the development of the Central American country.
